How To Draw Tribal Tattoos, Step by Step
How to Draw Tribal Tattoo Designs
Step 1
Using a pencil draw out a rough layout of the general shape you have in mind like in sample 1 below. And then thicken up the shape by drawing a line opposite the ones you just did like in sample 2. How thin or thick is entirely up to you. I have chosen to do a thin feminine tribal tattoo for this guide.

Step 2
Now before you move onto the next stage look at your drawing and see if any new lines should be introduced in order to give it balance. However, it is best to keep your tribal tattoos as simple as possible for aesthetic reasons but more often than not just by adding a couple of extra lines can make a whole lot of difference. Plus you don't want it to be too simple there has to be enough going on but not too much. In sample 3 below notice the swirl and two extra spikes I've added to my drawing.

Step 3
Once your happy with your drawing its time to draw around the whole design using a black fine line pen. But before you do this erase some of the pencil marks, just enough so you can still see a faint outline of the design. (see sample 4)
As soon as your line drawing is complete like in (sample 5) you are ready to color it in however you like. I chose to keep with the traditional black designs.
